LegalZoom Wants $249 a Year. Wyoming Wants $60.

The bias here is not hidden and should not be. WY Reg Agent.com is a Wyoming registered agent charging $99 annually, this page exists to win business away from LegalZoom, and we get paid when it works. The figures attributed to LegalZoom are LegalZoom's, as published, as recorded in a July 2026 review.

What the Brand Is Worth

Recognition, and recognition is not nothing. LegalZoom is the name a banker, an accountant or a nervous business partner already knows, and an owner who would rather not explain their choice of provider to anybody has bought something real with the fee.

Their pricing is also steady. No teaser, no step up at month thirteen, the same $249 in the sixth year as in the first. Several cheaper-looking competitors in this market cannot say that, and it deserves saying before anything critical follows.

$249, Renewing Without Being Asked

That is the published annual rate for registered agent service, and it renews automatically. No opening discount surfaced anywhere in their material during the July 2026 review.

The objection is not that the price moves, because it does not. It is how large the figure is, together with the fact that it recurs without anybody having to decide anything.

Wyoming's recurring demand on a Wyoming LLC is an annual report combined with a license tax. What the state asks for is $60 at minimum, or, if the calculation produces more, $0.0002 applied to every dollar of capital, property and assets the company keeps located and employed inside Wyoming.

Read the formula honestly and it is a wealth meter that most owners never trip. Two-tenths of a mill on the dollar means the multiplication only overtakes the $60 floor once a company holds more than $300,000 of assets in the state. Below that line, and the overwhelming majority of Wyoming LLCs sit well below it, the bill is $60 and nothing else.

Now the arithmetic that puts the fee in proportion. One year of the LegalZoom agent charge is $249. Four years of Wyoming's minimum license tax is $240. The nine dollars left over covers a change of registered agent, which the state prices at $5, with four dollars still in your pocket.

So the entire recurring obligation Wyoming itself imposes on your company, four years of it, costs less than twelve months of that agent fee. Whatever the $249 is buying, it is not compliance, because compliance in this state is a good deal cheaper than the service sold to manage it.

Our Terms

Ninety-nine dollars a year, and the renewal reads identically. Service of process is imaged the day it arrives and lands in your portal before the office closes, with a notification chasing it. Correspondence from the Secretary of State takes the same route. Compliance prompts go out ahead of your anniversary month, not after it. One product at checkout, no tiers stacked above it, no setup fee underneath.

One correction before any of that reads as a cheapest claim: $90 a year is on BetterLegal's own price list, under us by nine dollars. What survives the correction is that $99 sits near the floor of published Wyoming rates and never climbs.

How to Switch From LegalZoom to a New Wyoming Agent

A single filing does it, and it is an unusually cheap one. Changing a registered agent is a Business Division matter at the Secretary of State, priced at $5, and it cannot be submitted online or emailed in. It is a signed paper form, posted with a check. There is no form number to look up, because Wyoming identifies these documents by title and revision date only. Budget up to fifteen business days for processing, and do not plan around an expedite, because Wyoming law does not offer one on this filing at any price. LegalZoom signs nothing, is not consulted, and cannot slow it down.

Do not cancel first. Your record changes when Cheyenne opens the envelope, not when you stop paying, and those two events can sit a fortnight apart. Keep the LegalZoom appointment live until the state's entity search shows the new name on the agent line, then close the account. Our change of agent guide takes the form apart line by line.

An automatic renewal is only a problem while the automatic renewal is still yours.
